A.R. Willson

A.R. Willson has been writing since second grade, when she turned a one paragraph writing prompt into a 4-page action-adventure story (hand written, both sides). She is published in multiple short story anthologies and is a two-time finalist in the NYC Midnight challenge.

She has raised 4 kids, is an avid gardener, spent 4 years as an over-the-road truck driver, and currently homeschools her 12-year-old son while caring for her first grandchild. Thankfully, her amazing husband is also a fan of navigating chaos. She currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, but someday plans to retire in a small town where life moves a little slower. Marysvale anyone? (A little dirt never hurt–if you know, you know)

“Door of Desire” by A.R. Willson

Every one hundred years, a single opportunity comes for us all. (15 minute read) “Jerel!” The reeve stalked through the clusters of bundled grain awaiting the reapers. “What lazy mischief are you trying to pass off as work today?” Being only fifteen, and gangly for...

Writer's Cantina * Salt Lake City, Ut

A Utah writing conference for science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

This conference is especially for writers, concentrating on the art, craft, and business of writing and selling what you write.

But the structured presentations are only half the fun! Writers Cantina is organized around a large social/networking/hobnobbing area (with plentiful snacks), where writers from pre-published to professionals can mingle between panels and presentations.

Feb 13-15, 2025

LTUE * Provo, UT

Life, The Universe, & Everything: The Marion K. “Doc” Smith Symposium on Science Fiction and Fantasy originated at Brigham Young University and has grown and changed a lot over the last thirty years. LTUE is a three-day academic symposium on all aspects of science fiction and fantasy. Comprised of panels, presentations and papers on writing, art, literature, film, gaming and other facets of speculative fiction, LTUE is a place to learn all about life, the universe, and everything else you love.

The symposium is, most importantly, a gathering place for fans of our creative and innovative world to hang out and share their love of all things amazing, obscure, and even not-quite-real.
